The Kickstart Scheme was set up by the government to provide 16 - 24 year olds with a 6 month placement within a business environment to give them essential skills and experience to get back into work. This helps to build their confidence and improve their chances of going on to find long-term sustainable work reducing their long-term unemployment whatever the reason may be.
In February 2022, we took on Charles Jones through the government Kickstart Scheme. He had previously worked within the customer services environment and also as a light & sound engineer for a production company.
Throughout the scheme Charles worked 25 hours per week funded through the scheme and has learnt and perfected lots of new skills whilst being with us.
We put him through multiple training courses to enhance his skills set such as:
- Cyber Security Awareness
- Environmental Awareness
- Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
- Fire Awareness
- GDPR Advanced
- Manual Handling
- Mental Health Awareness
As well as 1 - 1 on the job training that has covered administration, purchasing such as stock control and processing, work schedule planning, compliance document creation, quality auditing, interacting with staff and customers at all levels.
Charles’s drive, determination, and ability to execute tasks successfully and competently have been noticed and appreciated by all who interact with him on day-to-day basis, the Kickstart Scheme has given him the opportunity and experience he deserved to excel within a business environment.
The 6 month placement was completed in August 2022 and it has definitely had a positive impact on our business as the kickstart scheme has really worked well for ServiceMaster and Charles.
Due to the success of the scheme and Charles, we are happy to announce that Charles will be starting a full time job with ServiceMaster Manchester from 1st September 2022 as our Administration Assistant.
Charles has become a valued member of the ServiceMaster Manchester family and we look forward to enhancing his skill set even further through qualifications and courses along with industry experience.
